Podcrkavlje is located some 10 km north of Slavonski Brod along the Zagreb-Brod highway. Population is about 2,700 with about 2,000 although the main village of the same name counts only about 300 inhabitants.

The symbols of Podcrkavlje are described in the Municipal Statutes Statut općine Podcrkavlje, adopted on 22 December 2005 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 23 December 2005 in the County official gazette Službeni vjesnik Brodsko-posavske županije, No. 22.
The symbols were designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company, from Rijeka, and approved by the Ministry of Administration / Central State Office for Administration before 2006.
The flag is in proportions 1:2, dark red (bordeaux) with the coat of arms, bordered yellow, in the middle.

The coat of arms (Likovna rješenja slućbenih grbova odobrena od Ministarstva uprave a na temelju pozitivne ocjene od Povjerenstva za odobrenje grba i zastave poster, Heraldic art d.o.o., 2006) is "Gules in the base a masoned lime kiln with semi-circular doors with flame or issuant and in the chief two arrows argent in saltire with arrowheads downwards".
This must represent the traditional industry of Podcrkavlje, lime production.
